The Institute's membership is granted on an individual basis, being open to those engaged in or concerned with land administration or its specialist functions such as land management education, land acquisition and development, legal services on land or landed property conveyancing and to those who have undergone the requisite training and gained the relevant experience recognized by the Institute.

Voting Members
Applicants for Fellowship must be a land administration professional recognized by the Council as having prominent contributions to the land administration science (e.g. by publishing high-valued articles etc.).A 10-year Ordinary Member may also apply for upgrading to the Fellow grade.
Applicants for Ordinary Membership must hold a post in land administration and must possess such personal qualities as are deemed by the Membership Committee to conform to a standard essential for successful land administration, and:
Non-voting Members
Applicants for Associate Membership must hold a position in land administration ( e.g. land executive, land/estate manager, land property advisor who have not yet obtained the academic qualification for Ordinary Membership) at the time of application, and must possess such personal qualities as are deemed by the Membership Committee to be of a standard essential for successful land administration.
Applicants for Affiliate Membership must have satisfactory working experience in land administration, and must possess such personal qualities as are deemed by the Membership Committee to conform to an acceptable standard.
